To add to his skills, Ty also began training in Kickboxing in 1991. Between his Karate background and Kickboxing training, he has a very extensive striking background which he passes on to his students in our Kickboxing and MMA classes.

Ty began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) in 1995. Since then he has trained in Brazil, America and Hawaii, and of course Australia. After training in Brazil in 2003, Ty went to the Rickson Gracie Academy in Los Angeles California, USA. After training there, and being so impressed with Rickson's style of Jiu-Jitsu, Ty put a white belt back on, and started again under the Rickson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Association. Ty has travelled overseas for every promotion since starting again at Rickson's academy. He is Gippslands first Bjj Black Belt.

During many overseas trips, he continued his training under Rickson Gracie, and his instructors, Luis Heredia, Henry Akins, Kron Gracie and Shane Rice.

Ty has competed in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kararte and Judo competitions earning medals in each of these arts. Ty now passes on his extensive knowledge and international experience to his own students, training Australian and State Champions.
